Senior Backend Engineer (Database)

We are looking for experienced Backend Engineers to join our Database Platform Team. You will be responsible for developing the web platforms, portals, and DBA tools (Redmine, Bytebase, Zalo DBaaS Portal) that power our database services, and for integrating CI/CD automation, database infrastructure provisioning, and monitoring & observability into Zalo DBaaS.
Depending on your expertise, your primary focus may be in one or more of the following areas:

🤖 What you will do
Platform Portal & DBA Tools Development
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and web portals for the Zalo DBaaS platform;
- Build, customize, and integrate DBA tools such as Redmine, Bytebase, and the Zalo DBaaS Portal;
- Develop RESTful APIs and self-service features for database requests, approvals, and operations;
- Integrate platforms with internal systems for authentication, authorization, and auditing;
- Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of platform services in production.
Monitoring & Performance
- Integrate database metrics, logs, and alerts into the DBaaS platform;
- Build monitoring dashboards and alerting mechanisms for databases and platform services;
- Provide observability features such as slow-query insights and health reports to users;
- Support incident investigation and root cause analysis;
- Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
CI/CD Automation & Integration
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform services and database changes;
- Integrate database change management (DBCM) workflows into delivery pipelines;
- Implement event-driven automation using webhooks, EventBus, and messaging systems;
- Automate database schema reviews, deployments, and rollbacks;
- Improve release consistency through standardized workflows and templates.
Infrastructure Provisioning
- Integrate automated MySQL and PostgreSQL provisioning into the DBaaS platform;
- Develop Infrastructure as Code for database clusters and supporting services;
- Automate configuration, backup, failover, and lifecycle operations;
- Develop reusable automation using Ansible, Bash, Python, or Go;
- Collaborate with SRE/DevOps/DBAs to turn operational procedures into self-service workflows.
👾 What you will need
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field;
- 3+ years of experience in backend development, DevOps, or platform engineering;
- Strong backend development skills in at least one language such as Go, Python, or Java;
- Experience building RESTful APIs and web applications;
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Runner) and event-driven integrations (webhooks, message queues);
- Working knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongDB, ClickHouse and etc;
- Experience with Linux, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible or Terraform;
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
