Lead UI/UX Designer, Zalo
At Zalo, we believe that world-class technology is defined not just by code, but by the seamless experiences it delivers. Imagine a product interface interacted with by millions of users, every single day. We are building a dynamic playground where product thinkers can thrive. Step in to dismantle the reactive "service" mindset, establish robust design workflows, and empower the entire design team to confidently drive the "Why" behind every product decision.
🤖 What you will do
This role demands a Strategic System Thinker who defines how design impacts the entire ecosystem. Beyond individual features, you are responsible for the architectural integrity of the platform and the efficiency of the design-to-development workflow. You bridge the gap between high-level business goals and technical feasibility.
- Lead Essential User Journeys: Steer the design of core functionalities by actively partnering with POs to define the right development approach. Whether strategizing a rapid MVP or a comprehensive full-process feature, you drive the UX vision, ensuring the fundamental app experience remains logically structured without falling into a reactive, request-taking dynamic;
- Define Visual Principles: You don't just use the design system; you evolve it. You decide which principles to apply (or break) to solve specific platform problems. You define the "Why" behind the "Look.";
- Deep Interaction Design (HCI): Apply advanced UX Laws and HCI principles to design detailed micro-interactions and transitions. You ensure the system gives feedback (system status) that is psychologically satisfying and clear to the user;
- Evidence-Based Design: You validate your design decisions using qualitative research and available quantitative data. You don't guess; you look for evidence to prove why a flow will work;
- Heuristic & Proactive Audit: Proactively perform Heuristic Evaluations on existing products. You identify UX debts in the platform and propose solutions to the Product Team without waiting for a ticket;
- Roadmap Contribution: You sit with Product Managers and Tech Leads during planning. You understand technical constraints (Road-blocks) well enough to propose design solutions that are feasible yet innovative;
- Master of Storytelling: You set the context. When presenting to Stakeholders, you don't just show screens; you tell the story of the user's problem, the business constraint, and how your solution bridges the gap;
- Host Design Critiques: You lead high-quality critique sessions. You create a safe environment where designs are debated based on logic and principles, helping Senior/Junior members improve their craft;
- Process Optimization: You observe how the Design, Product, and Dev teams interact. You propose and build workflows that reduce friction and improve delivery speed for the Platform team.
👾 What you will need
- Experience: 5+ years in UI/UX Design, with at least 2 years leadership;
- System Thinking: You see the ecosystem, not just the page. You understand how a change in the Payment module affects the Mini App experience;
- Psychology & HCI: Deep understanding of human behavior. You know how to use design to reduce cognitive load in complex data dashboards;
- Logic & Evidence: You prioritize logic over aesthetics. You are comfortable defending your design using data points (e.g., Retention dropped by X%, so we need to change this flow);
- High-Scale Consumer Apps: Proven experience designing for core product functionalities with massive user bases (e.g., Social, Messaging, Core Utilities). You know how to craft flawless, high-performance experiences that millions interact with daily;
- Prototyping & Motion: Ability to build high-fidelity prototypes that mimic real-life interactions (motion, transition) to prove a concept to Developers;
- Design System Leadership: Experience in maintaining and scaling a Design System for multiple products;
- Debate & Persuasion: Ability to debate design choices with Product Managers and Engineers. You can explain complex UX concepts in simple business terms;
- Mentorship: A track record of guiding less experienced designers, helping them improve their logical thinking and visual output.
