Content Licensing Specialist, Zing MP3
We are looking for a passionate and commercially minded Content Licensing Specialist to expand and strengthen Zing MP3's music catalog. This role is responsible for identifying, negotiating, and managing licensing partnerships with record labels, distributors, artists, aggregators, and other music rights holders to ensure users have access to high-quality local and international music content.
The ideal candidate combines strong negotiation skills, music industry knowledge, data-driven decision making, and relationship management to maximize catalog growth while optimizing licensing costs
🤖 What you will do
1. Music Acquisition & Licensing
- Source and acquire music content from major labels, independent labels, distributors, and artists
- Negotiate licensing agreements, commercial terms, and renewal contracts
- Identify new content opportunities across local and international markets
- Expand priority catalogs based on business strategy and user demand
- Ensure timely onboarding of new releases and catalog updates.
2. Partnership Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with content partners
- Act as the primary contact for licensing discussions and operational issues
- Conduct regular business reviews with partners
- Explore strategic collaborations beyond licensing, including marketing campaigns, artist promotions, and exclusive releases.
3. Content Strategy
- Analyze music consumption trends and identify content gaps
- Recommend acquisition priorities based on user behavior, streaming performance, and market trends
- Monitor competitor catalogs and exclusive content strategies
- Support editorial and marketing teams with content planning for key campaigns.
4. Commercial & Financial Management
- Prepare licensing proposals and business cases
- Manage licensing budgets and optimize content acquisition costs
- Forecast licensing expenses and evaluate ROI of acquired content
- Track contract obligations, royalty terms, and payment schedules.
5. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze streaming performance and partner contribution
- Monitor KPIs such as catalog growth, listening hours, market share, revenue contribution, and content utilization
- Produce regular reports and actionable insights for management.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Legal, Finance, Operations, Product, Editorial, and Marketing teams
- Coordinate content delivery and metadata quality
- Support product initiatives related to music licensing and content monetization.
👾 What you will need
1. Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Media, Music Business, Law, or related fields.
2. Experience
- 2–4 years of experience in Business Development, Licensing, Partnership Management, Content Acquisition, or the digital media industry.
- Understanding of the music industry ecosystem.
- Knowledge of music copyrights and licensing structures.
- Analytical mindset with experience interpreting business data.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
- Professional English communication.
Preferred
- Understanding of recording rights, publishing rights, neighboring rights, and digital music licensing
- Experience working with major labels, independent labels, or music distributors
- Familiarity with DSPs (Digital Service Providers) and digital music business models
- Knowledge of royalty reporting and content management systems.
